Review: LeetStreet Boys

The LeetStreet Boys (or possibly the L33tStr33t Boys) are my new favorite band. I love practically everything about them.

Except for these 3 things:

 1. Justin. He's a pervert. The end.     

Never trust a guy in a pink shirt.

 2. Matt Myers (the lead singer) is better suited for singing dance songs with a faster tempo. Slower love songs/ ballads aren't nearly as good as the other tunes. (The exception to this is "Comiket.")

Matt, as he appears in the web comic. Love the Ouran Host Club jacket.

 3. I missed them when they came to my city two years ago. (Matt, if you're reading this: come back to Tekko!) 

Rose, the lesbian bassist and only female.

Book Review: Cirque Du Freak Series

I'm going to start a series of reviews, and I'm going to start with the popular book series The Saga of Darren Shan (also known as Cirque Du Freak.)

The plot is incredibly interesting, with a variation of the average vampire stereotypes. The main character, Darren Shan, is a young schoolboy who only becomes a half- (remember, half: it's important later on) vampire to save his best friend. From a giant spider. That Darren stole. And then he fakes his death with the help of the man who blooded him, a vamp with orange hair and scar named Larten Crepsley. And then Steve (the best friend) swears revenge on Darren for stealing his rightful place among the creatures of the night.

Yeah. Seriously. And it only gets more confusing from there.

Vampaneze (which are evil vampires, kinda), a human girlfriend, snake people, spiders, Princes, blood, wolves, bat broth, arrow guns, dragons, time- travel, a dude with rain boots, and a person with no memories that also has no tastebuds- all this and I've barely scratched the surface. (Deep breath, girl...)

The series has 12 books, divided into 4 trilogies. The first 3 books are, by far, the best- the grade they receive is a solid A-. The next 3, which explain the history of the vampires and the beginning of the war that becomes key in the second half of the series, are great too: their score is B+. The third set starts to go downhill. While still compelling, I got somewhat confused and the writing just doesn't flow as well. Grade? B. And the final 3 are the worst. Take the convoluted ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and cross it with the stupidity of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (or, actually, any Twilight book) and you have this trilogy, which earn a C.

My recommendation? Read the manga. So much better, even if the plot's still crazy, because of the fantastic art and wonderful translation. And by "translation," I mean text from the regular books. Whatever. Darren is cute.

Dig the pirate outfit.

DigiPost: Why Digimon is Better Than Pokémon

I'm not going to explain. This one is fairly straightforward.

1. The theme song.



Enough said. (Pokémon's theme is good too, but hey. This is better.)

2. The monsters can actually talk.

The only one of our fine pocketed monsters that can speak human (aside from Legendaries) is Meowth. ALL DIGIMON CAN TALK. BEAT THAT. 

3. Digimon don't have trainers, they have friends.

And as such, they don't attack everything they're told to. They attack for their own saftey, not for amusement.

4. Not everyone has a Digimon.

Anyone can be a Pokémon trainer, but not everyone is a DigiDestined. Your move, Ash Ketchum.

5. The names all end in "mon." And they acknowledge the fact the series takes place in Japan.

They even didn't really Americanize the names, either.

And finally, 6. They aren't stuffed into tiny balls and abused.

No forced evolutions! No Pokéballs! No Team Rocket!

I rest my case: Digimon: 6, Pokémon: 0. Game set and match.

Puzzle Master and Potter Disaster

First off, I'm ashamed.

No comments. No followers. I still want to be on strike, but a promise is a promise. Besides, I missed posting.

NOW ON TO THE IMPORTANT (and brief) STUFF!

First off, the movie Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva is coming to North America at long last.  The other two Layton games are coming here as well, and one can only hope that Phoenix Wright Vs. Professor Layton will also reach our shores eventually. (This may not happen at all, as Capcom has discontinued the Ace Attorney series in the USA.) That's the "puzzle master" part.

As for "Potter disaster," I write this with great pain in my heart: THE FINAL HARRY POTTER MOVIE SUCKS EGGS. I mean, they butchered the book. As usual. And they cut out Colin Creevey, but then they killed Nigel, his little brother.

R.I.P Colin Creevey, the magical paparazzi.

Yeah. So I'm p***ed off. (Hey, I censored it.) At least Neville was awesome. As usual.

There's something about a guy covered in blood with a sword that just turns me on...

Who's That... That's a Pokémon?: My Trip to Poképark

So I recently bought Poképark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure and I have to say, I really don't get all the negative talk about it. Sure, it was a bit silly, but it was cute.

 Actually, adorable might be a better word to use. I mean, you play as Pikachu. He's already one of the cutest things since chibis, so it can't be awful. And you can chase Celebi, battle with Mew, play Hide- and- Seek with Mudkip, and take a quiz from Teddiursa. And you can hang out with Lucario! The only way Pikachu can do that otherwise is in Super Smash Brothers Brawl!

Okay, cutesy- wutesy rant over.

My only real regret is I haven't seen my fave Pokémon: Jigglypuff. Because everything is better with Jigglypuff.

So go get this game. Now. Or I'll have Piplup use Whirlpool on you. (If you're wondering, I also have plushies of Budew, Chikorita, Celebi, and Jirachi.)

When Awesomeness Collides

So I've been going to a four- night, eight-movie Harry Potter marathon (called "The Legendary Adventure") and all I can really saw is:

1. They look sooooo tiny!!!



Look at how cute they were back then!

2.  Minor complaints: overpriced food ($12 for a large popcorn and a {not- so-}small Sprite? What the heck? (Also- long and late at night. Bad combo.)
3. I can't believe it's ending!!!!!!!!!!!!! *bursts into tears* WAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! *sniffles*

So yeah. Harry Potter. Go watch now, Muggle. Or I'll sic Fluffy on you.

UPDATE: I talked to the dude with the 3DS- he also has Pokedex 3D and Link's Awakening DX. I'm half- tempted to steal it from him at this point.

Speaking of Professor Layton, play it. AWESOMESAUCE! I mean, it's about a professor of archeology who solves mysteries with a British accent and a top hat. Along with Luke, who needs his own game. Finally, the final Harry Potter comes out soon. WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! If you can't wait, the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly is all about HP, so to the magazine rack you go.

Objectionable Confusion: WiiWare Version

That's right, I'm back, baby! And better than ever!

Anyway, I recently (aka Sunday) bought the WiiWare version of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. And let me tell you, if you don't own a Nintendo DS, this is a good sub.  I only have three things that deserve an OBJECTION!:

1.  All of Phoenix's voice acting (eg, Objection, Take that) come from the Wii Remote. It sounds... tinny. Not as good. But pointing your remote to object and present evidence is extremely satisfying.
2. When you're about to cross- examine someone, the screen gets a little crowded. Since, you know, there's only one screen.



See? Busy.

3.  When you point out something, the screen gets really small (DS size).

So, overall, if all you have is a Wii, (like me), go to the Shopping Channel and get it! TAKE THAT!

It really is fun to do.

Zant Rant: Skyward Sword Trailer

In this special Zant Rant, I am going to disect the new Skyward Sword trailer, which you can watch here.  I only want to touch upon three things:

1. As you can see, Link and Zelda are flying on some birds, which I have on good authority you can fly. Now, this may not seem like much, but according to this post, you can't. Anyone else see the condratiction? Yes? Good, so I'm not crazy.

2. The bad guy- who is he? Vatti? A young Ganondorf? Someone new? Is it even a guy? (Comment with your ideas.)

3. This is more fangirl nitpicking than an actual point, but in one scene, Link's earrings are red. Then they're blue. COLOR SCREW UP! (Also, why does Link have earrings again, when Zelda doesn't? What is Nintendo implying here?)

Okay. Disection over. And final reaction:

DigiPost: The Greatest Soundtrack Ever.

So I was watching the Digimon movie recently, and I came to a conclusion: it has the world's greatest soundtrack ever. Some sample tracks:

"One Week" by the Barenaked Ladies: My family listens to this band a lot, so I know the song pretty well and was pysched to hear it in the flick.

"The Rockfeller Skank" by Fatboy Slim :  This song is just catchy and fun to dance to. Funk soul brother....

"The Impression That I Get" by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones: I play this song on Band Hero a lot, so I know it well too.

"All Star" by Smash Mouth: What's funny is they played the unedited version. Wierd...

...and, of course...

"Digimon Theme" by Paul Gordon: THE. WORLD'S. CATCHIEST. THEME. EVER. Try to get it out of your head after hearing it. Digimon, digital monsters, Digimon are champions!

Zant Rant: Oracle of Seasons/Ages

Welcome to the first Zant Rant! The concept is pretty simple: an entire post where I rant about Legend of Zelda. (BTW, the name "Zant Rant" comes from the fact one of the bad guys in Twilight Princess is named Zant.) Today, I shall speak/ complain about Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages.

Okay, for the most part, the two Orcale games are fine. They may not fit into the main storyline, but who cares? But, in the manga at least (the only game I've actually played and not read about/ watch a walkthrough for is Twilight Princess), there are two characters that annoy the crud out of me: Ricky and Roperi.

Ricky, for the most part, is pretty cool: the guy's a boxer that's actually nice in real life. That never happens... but I really don't know much about sports in general. However, he's not really a "guy:" he's a kangaroo. Like Kanga and Roo from Winnie the Pooh. Or Kangaroo Jack.

Uh- huh. A boxing, talking kangaroo. Sure, Nintendo. I see where you're going with this. I believe it's called the padded room?

Roperi, on the other hand, is at least human. But whereas Ricky is somewhat helpful, all Roperi does is yell at Link for making the knight Raven not pay attention to her and giving a hint that makes Link realize Raven's his ancestor. I guess that's useful, but anyone could have done that.

Now I realize these people may not be in the games, and if they aren't, I'm sorry for complaining. But they're in the manga. And I hate them.

The Best of 3: Ace Attorney Edition

Welcome to the first ever The Best of 3 post! Let me explain what this means:

1. I choose 3 characters from something I like (in this case, the 3 main attornies: Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, and Apollo Justice).
2. I go through 10 rounds with one winner for each category.
3. Person with the most wins is THE BEST OF 3!

So here... we.... GO!

Round 1: Best In- Game Music: Okay, so I really can't decide between these two: "Investigation~ Cornered" and "The Steel Samurai." However, both are in the original trilogy.  Round 1: Phoenix Wright!

Round 2: Best Regular Case: The final case in "Justice for All." Why? You got to play as Maya, who is EPIC WIN! So Round 2 also goes to: Phoenix Wright!

Round 3: Best Add- On Case: Edgey is excluded (sorry, Miles). I'm going with Apollo's, since it actually has the term "Turnabout" in the title. May seem like stupid logic, but deal. Round 3:  Apollo Justice!

Round 4: Most Handsome: I'm a girl, okay? And let's face it.... the smirk. The red vest. The sprig that makes him look like Alfalfa from "The Little Rascals."  I <3 IT! Round 4: Apollo "Hunk" Justice! ;-)

Round 5: Best Person to Have Backing You Up in a Fight: Phoenix was robbed by a monkey. Weak! Apollo.... I have a feeling he passed the bar exam because of his looks. But Edgeworth will own your soul with his ICY GLARE OF DEATH. Hold me? Round 5 goes to: Miles Edgeworth!

Round 6: Best Objection: Phoenix has a nice finger point, as does Apollo. However, Edgey's voice may be quiet, but it holds power. TAKE THAT, ROUND 6!: Miles Edgeworth

Round 7: Most Likely to Win "American Idol": This one's a no- brainer- who has the "chords of steel?" Coming in at #7 with his new hit single "Hold It!": Apollo Justice!

Round 8: Greatest Outfit: Not to be confused with "most handsome." Phoenix does have the whole "Sonic the Hedgehog knockoff" look, but it's put to shame by one word: RUFFLES. Round 8: Miles Edgeworth!

Round 9: Best Sidekick: Batman has Robin, Ash has Pikachu, SpongeBob has Patrick, Mario has Luigi, and Phoenix has Maya (who I've already established as EPIC WIN!). Round 9: Phoenix Wright!

And now, the moment you've been waiting for.... *drumroll*

Round 10: Most Iconic: When somebody says the words "Ace Attorney," there's only one person you think of. Hint: it's "Wright" in front of you (bad pun, I know). The Best of 3 Winner is..... PHOENIX WRIGHT!!!!!
