Video Game Review: Kid Icarus: Uprising

It's hard to say what I don't like about this game, because the list is so minuscule. Really the only things I can complain about are 1. the sometimes obtuse controls, 2. the headache I occasionally get from playing the game with the 3D fully on and my glasses, and 3. the plot points I wished they could've put in.

But the good stuff... is EVERYTHING ELSE.

The multiplayer is great (although I suck at it), the graphics are gorgeous, the enemy/ partner AI is spot on, the voice acting and script...

BEST. DAMN. WRITING. IN. A. VIDEO. GAME. EVER. PERIOD.

Some sample conversations from the game (no spoilers!):

*During the how to play movies*
PALUTENA: Quickly flick the Circle Pad in any direction to dash that way. Hold it down to run.
PIT: That move feels so familiar.
PALUTENA: I think they used it in that one series, "Super Bash Sisters."
PIT: You mean Super Smash Bros.?
PALUTENA: I don't think it was that.
PIT: It's definitely that.

*after defeating a boss that looks like a dog*
PIT: Woo hoo! I just racked up so many Nintendogs points!

*on eating food of the ground*
PIT: Floor ice cream gives you health!

*seeing the Eggplant Wizard again*
PIT: I don't want to be an eggplant again! In the first game I was visited the nurse so much they named the place after me. HosPITal. See?
PALUTENA: ...
PIT: It's a joke, it's okay to laugh.
PALUTENA: No, it's really not.

And did I mention Dark Pit?

I'm sorry. There is only one thing sexier than this in the game, and you see it at the end of chapter 22. I won't tell you what it is, but you'll know it when you see it.

Final grade: A. Are you suprised?
Also, look for my video on YouTube in response to Nintendo spoiling the game for me themselves in a video.

Vocaloid Songs! (Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Len/ Rin)

N00dl3G@l's Vocaloid Playlist

My playlist of my favorite Vocaloid songs. Fair warning though: the tunes are catchy and fun to dance to, but the lyrics... can be creepy...

But it's in Japanese. I don't speak Japanese. So I'll just dance. ~starts dancing like a maniac~

P.S. Most of these songs can be bought of iTunes, if you want them.

Fan Fics and Spam

So I got my first comment that wasn't from my dad.

And it was just a bunch of links to Juicy Couture.  Do I sound like the kind of person who wears Juicy?

Cuz I'm not, I assure you.

Also, I've uploaded my first fanfic on my fanfiction.net account. Here's the link: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/3485250/

And as for videos, the editing process is taking longer than expected. But they'll be done by the end of the week, I promise.

Oh, and some upcoming reviews:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (both novels and anime)
D.N.Angel (manga and anime)
PuzzleQuest (video game)

So, yeah. Peace!

Review: LeetStreet Boys

The LeetStreet Boys (or possibly the L33tStr33t Boys) are my new favorite band. I love practically everything about them.

Except for these 3 things:
 1. Justin. He's a pervert. The end.
Never trust a guy in a pink shirt.

 2. Matt Myers (the lead singer) is better suited for singing dance songs with a faster tempo. Slower love songs/ ballads aren't nearly as good as the other tunes. (The exception to this is "Comiket.")
Matt, as he appears in the web comic. Love the Ouran Host Club jacket.
 3. I missed them when they came to my city two years ago. (Matt, if you're reading this: come back to Tekko!)
Rose, the lesbian bassist and only female.
Otherwise, I love them. Learn to love them too:

Grade for the albums:

L33tStr33t Boys: A (best songs: "Otaku Anthem (I Wanna Live)," "Yuri the Only One," "Rockstar Games")
Otaku Hearts: A- (best songs: "She's So Kawaii," "Cosplay Girlfriend," "Expert Mode")
"Comiket" Single: A
"Rickroll" Single: B+
(Review of karaoke album coming soon)

Book Review: Cirque Du Freak Series

I'm going to start a series of reviews, and I'm going to start with the popular book series The Saga of Darren Shan (also known as Cirque Du Freak.)

The plot is incredibly interesting, with a variation of the average vampire stereotypes. The main character, Darren Shan, is a young schoolboy who only becomes a half- (remember, half: it's important later on) vampire to save his best friend. From a giant spider. That Darren stole. And then he fakes his death with the help of the man who blooded him, a vamp with orange hair and scar named Larten Crepsley. And then Steve (the best friend) swears revenge on Darren for stealing his rightful place among the creatures of the night.

Yeah. Seriously. And it only gets more confusing from there.

Vampaneze (which are evil vampires, kinda), a human girlfriend, snake people, spiders, Princes, blood, wolves, bat broth, arrow guns, dragons, time- travel, a dude with rain boots, and a person with no memories that also has no tastebuds- all this and I've barely scratched the surface. (Deep breath, girl...)

The series has 12 books, divided into 4 trilogies. The first 3 books are, by far, the best- the grade they receive is a solid A-. The next 3, which explain the history of the vampires and the beginning of the war that becomes key in the second half of the series, are great too: their score is B+. The third set starts to go downhill. While still compelling, I got somewhat confused and the writing just doesn't flow as well. Grade? B. And the final 3 are the worst. Take the convoluted ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and cross it with the stupidity of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (or, actually, any Twilight book) and you have this trilogy, which earn a C.

My recommendation? Read the manga. So much better, even if the plot's still crazy, because of the fantastic art and wonderful translation. And by "translation," I mean text from the regular books. Whatever. Darren is cute.
Dig the pirate outfit.

More New Music

Last night I bought even more rockin' tunes off iTunes. Here's the list:
  1.  Basically half of all the songs by LeetStreet Boys- most notable, "She's So Kawaii," "Yuri the Only One," and "Rickroll." Oh, and "Rockstar Games" and "Expert Mode." They are officially my new favorite band.
  2. "The World" from DeathNote.
  3. "Nyan Cat." Yes, you can buy it.
  4. "Badger Badger Badger."
  5. "Peanut Butter Jelly Time." Internet memes rejoice!
  6. "The Big Bang Theory theme" by Barnaked Ladies.
  7. "This is Halloween" by Marylin Manson
  8. The main theme from Fire Emblem.
  9. The battle/ gym leader theme from Pokemon.
  10. "Distance" from Naruto.
  11. "Hare Hare Yukai" from The Melancholy of Haruhi Something- or- another....
  12. The Hamster Dance.
  13. "Still Alive" from Portal.
Thank you, $25 gift card from Dad!

DigiPost: Why Digimon is Better Than Pokémon

I'm not going to explain. This one is fairly straightforward.

1. The theme song.

Enough said. (Pokémon's theme is good too, but hey. This is better.)

2. The monsters can actually talk.

The only one of our fine pocketed monsters that can speak human (aside from Legendaries) is Meowth. ALL DIGIMON CAN TALK. BEAT THAT.

3. Digimon don't have trainers, they have friends.

And as such, they don't attack everything they're told to. They attack for their own saftey, not for amusement.

4. Not everyone has a Digimon.

Anyone can be a Pokémon trainer, but not everyone is a DigiDestined. Your move, Ash Ketchum.

5. The names all end in "mon." And they acknowledge the fact the series takes place in Japan.

They even didn't really Americanize the names, either.

And finally, 6. They aren't stuffed into tiny balls and abused.

No forced evolutions! No Pokéballs! No Team Rocket!

I rest my case: Digimon: 6, Pokémon: 0. Game set and match.

P.S. Oh, and this picture.
